FAQs

Where do you begin when looking to build a home?

The first thing you should do when considering to build a house, is determine the size home you want to build. You should discuss with your builder your budget and establish how much home you can afford. i.e., square footage, etc

What is the first thing you need to do when choosing a design?

When choosing a design, the first thing you need to do is decide the style you prefer: a one story, a 1 1/2-story, or a 2-story house. Think about the number of bedrooms that are necessary for you and your family now and in the future. Also, try to choose a preliminary floor plan that you would enjoy living within, but remain flexible.

I will ask my customers to tell me what they like and don’t like in a home design and why. Good communication is critical. Your designer needs to know how you live. Everyone has different lifestyle needs and I will listen carefully to design your home based on your needs.

What are contained in a set of house plans?

A set of house plans includes the front and rear elevations, the right and left side elevations, the first floor plan, the second floor plan (if applicable), and cabinet elevations (if requested). The electrical layout is placed on a separate sheet to keep plans neat and easy to read. Framing plans include rafter layout and ceiling joist layout.
